PROTECTION

Poem by Teyekahliyos Edwards

All of us, unified like hip hop

and sweetgrass

into thunder.

Tying the tier.

On clenched fists, a stretch

skulls braided as one.

Our seven dancers and you,

Protecting another

into the maze

within a universe of new life.

Rock Maze

(Imitation poem of “Shelter” by Heather Cahoon)
